Hi y’all and welcome to the Mid-Winter Holler.  Four days of Americana music workshops feasts and fun

There is also the option of staying over on Sunday night for our chill out day super song circle and that old ( well brand new) traditions The pre-dinner eastern European string orchestra and  the ‘Hollerin of the Sausage’. Webbers at the ready. There will be a mountain of the best Sausages we can find. Gordon our butcher has sold up but we are chasing him down to see if he can  whip us up a  batch of bangers otherwise we will be taste testing for the next month. With the chip in addition of salads and desserts the Sunday night BBQ is a welcome treat.

Between the Mid-Winter Feast, Invitation Concert, Song Circles, workshops and blackboard concerts there is plenty of time and heaps of hideaway spots for jamming, jamming, jamming.  After all, there is no better way to hone those skills than to pick a plenty and holler out loud.

Location – Tatum Park 822-850 State Highway 1, Horowhenua

With a main hollerin room, plenty of comfy break out areas for socialising and jamming, a restaurant/bar and multiple accommodation options to suite your budget,  Tatum Park is a perfect location for this mid-winter gathering.

Mid-Winter Feast and Invitation Concert

The main event on Saturday night is the Mid-Winter Feast and Invitation Concert. What better way to celebrate a mid-winter weekend than to share a hot buffet feast with friends. It is a sumptuous feast – (the menu was selected on an empty tum). Dietary and vegetarian options are available if indicated.

The Dinner will be followed by the invitation concert in the Cobham Holler Hall. The concert line up will be selected by the event organisers and feature artists who are in attendance over the weekend.

Blackboard Concerts

Several blackboard concerts are planned over the weekend, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Plenty of opportunity for attendees to perform and collaborate.

In preparation please think about your tunes, the origin, old time , Americana  etc and some background that you can share with everyone

Song Circles and Workshops

As tradition, we start Saturday with a Song circle lead by the esteemed Holler Meister Peter Dyer.

The self-organised blank board workshops sessions worked incredibly well last year so we will do it again. If you have a workshop idea and can find a space and time on the Workshop Board – it’s a thing!!

Chill down Sunday

For those wanting to stay on for the full Sunday and evening, this is a relaxing way to finish off the weekend, make up our own sessions and share a BBQ dinner.

Last years Sunday evening song circle was

EPIC!

Jammin Jammin Jammin

We have looked to keep the weekend as jam friendly as possible so interspersed between the scheduled events. The expectation is to jam, pick, holler, collaborate, socialise, innovate and share as much music as everyone feels the need. There are comfy break out areas, the restaurant and bar area and other random places for whatever jam may take your fancy.

The Cobham Hall

This is our gathering spot for blackboard concerts, workshops and Saturday nights invitation concert. This will also be the general gathering areas for pickin and hollerin

Restaurant and Bar The restaurant and bar area is the main location for the Mid Winter Dinner. Not to be missed is the pre-dinner gathering with our very own, lovingly and organically grown “Mid-Winter Holler Orchestra”.

Camp Kitchen The camp kitchen will be open this year for us to use. This is handy for self catering breakfast and lunch. There are plenty of utensils, stoves fridges. A great additional spot for us all to use.

Meals

The weekend is self catering for  breakfast and lunches. The  camp kitchen will be available with plenty of fridges and cooking facilities available.

Coffee and tea is available over the weekend in the small kitchen in Cobham

Friday traditional Lasagne Dinner – Restaurant  For those arriving on the Friday evening there will be the traditional welcome Lasagne dinner. ( payable to Tatum when you arrive.)
